Coach Johnson brings nearly two decades of high school coaching experience, with a strong background in defensive development and player preparation for the next level. A former varsity player at Altoona Area High School (1995–1997), he went on to Gannon University, where he was a four-year starter on the offensive line at guard and center.

His coaching career includes:

    •    Altoona Area HS – Offensive Line Coach (2004–2006)

    •    Salisbury HS – Safeties/Spurs (2007–2012), 2010 State Championship

    •    West Iredell HS – Offensive Assistant (2013)

    •    Jesse C. Carson HS – Linebackers Coach / Defensive Coordinator (2014–2016)

    •    Lake Norman HS – Linebackers Coach (2017–2018), Defensive Coordinator (2019–present)

Coach Johnson is committed to developing disciplined, coachable, and college-ready student-athletes and values strong communication with collegiate coaching staffs throughout the recruiting process. He and his wife, Amy, are proud parents of three daughters, and family remains a central part of his leadership and mentoring philosophy.
