Coach Justin Cunningham is entering his seventh season as the head football coach at Leonardtown High School, where he has led the Raiders to unprecedented success, including the program’s first ever regional championship. A Calvert High School and University of Maryland graduate, Coach Cunningham brings a deep-rooted passion for developing athletes and building high character teams.

Before taking over at Leonardtown, he served as an assistant strength coach at the University of Maryland, and as an assistant coach at both Calvert High School and the nationally renowned DeMatha Catholic High School. At DeMatha, he held multiple roles including head freshman football coach, linebackers coach, wide receivers coach, tight ends coach, offensive line coach, strength and conditioning coach, and associate head coach. His versatility and leadership helped shape one of the most competitive high school football programs in the country.

Throughout his coaching career, Coach Cunningham has helped guide over 100 student athletes to play college football and has contributed to the development of more than 10 players who advanced to the NFL. Known for his emphasis on discipline, toughness, and player development, he remains dedicated to mentoring young men and young women both on and off the field.

Coach Corey Dennee is a proud alumnus of Leonardtown High School, where he was a three-year varsity starter and two-year team captain before graduating in 2013. He continued his football career at Frostburg State University, starting 31 games under FCS Coach Delane Fitzgerald and earning his degree in 2017.

In 2019, Coach Corey returned to Leonardtown to begin his coaching career under current head coach Justin Cunningham. He served as the team’s offensive coordinator for three seasons before transitioning to defensive coordinator for the next three. Known for his commitment to discipline, accountability, and a team first mentality, Coach Corey is passionate about developing not just athletes, but young men of character. He believes in holding players to a high standard and building a program grounded in unity, effort, and leadership.

Coach Maury “Coach Mac” McFarland, originally from New Orleans, LA, brings 22 years of coaching experience and a strong passion for developing disciplined, high performing teams. A standout wide receiver at Alcorn State University and a U.S. Air Force veteran, Coach Mac has served as both an offensive and defensive coordinator, as well as a position coach for quarterbacks, wide receivers, and defensive backs. He has coached at Kadena High School (Japan), AFNORTH International School (Netherlands), C.D. Hylton High School (VA), and McDonough High School (MD). In addition to his high school experience, he has coached several youth programs, including the Maryland Heat, helping young athletes build strong fundamentals and character. As a member of the Soldiers to Sidelines community, Coach Mac remains dedicated to mentoring players on and off the field. This season, he looks forward to leading a talented, high character running back group.

Coach Renninger joins us from the Pacific Northwest, bringing with him eight years of coaching experience. His championship experiences as both a player and a coach have equipped him with a strong foundation and a deep understanding of the game, he is passionate about sharing that knowledge with student athletes.

Known for his high energy and relentless drive, Coach Renninger is committed to growth for both himself and his players. He emphasizes the development of positive mindsets, goal-setting skills, and resilience. Above all, he takes pride in helping athletes find platforms for success both on and off the field.

Coach Isaiah Sewell enters his second season as a high school football coach, bringing over a decade of experience as both a player and coach to the sidelines. An alumnus of Leonardtown High School and former student athlete at Frostburg State University, where he played four years at the collegiate level, Coach Sewell has developed a reputation for bringing high energy, intensity, finesse, and funk, grounding himself in fundamentals and character. His coaching philosophy emphasizes player development on and off the field, with a focus on creating men beyond their last snap. He prides himself on fostering a competitive, team first culture. Coach Sewell’s passion for the game and commitment to mentoring young athletes continue to make a lasting impact within the program and the community.
