Philadelphia Sixers’ Joel Embiid will donate $500,000 for medical relief and protection efforts against the Coronavirus pandemic.
The three-time all-star will also be helping the Sixers’ staff and employees who have had their salaries temporarily reduced.
The Sixers’ employees who make more than $50,000 were told Monday that there will be temporary salary reductions up to 20%. The reductions will start on April 15 and run through June 30.
After massive blowback online following their decision to force employees into taking a pay cut, the Sixers have announced that they reversed course and will no longer be asking them to take the cut.
